2018 Jeep Compass Review

The new Jeep Compass is an outstanding upgrade to an already phenomenal and unique crossover  sports utility vehicle. Slotting in firmly between the compact Renegade and the full size Cherokee, the Compass represents all of the best things that midsize crossover SUVs have to offer.

Drivers in the St. Louis, Chesterfield and Kirkwood areas of Missouri love crossovers for the balance of features and performance they offer. The good news is that the Compass offers not just a balance but the best in features from all angles. Discover the full range of performance, convenience and technology features, and the driving experience you get from the new 2018 Jeep Compass.

2018 Jeep Compass St. Louis, MO

While most Jeep Compass vehicles come with front-wheel drive, every trim level has a four-wheel option, and it really isn't a Jeep without being able to tackle the harshest off-road terrain. Even if you're not a trailblazing adventurer, snowy and icy roads in the winter can be the worst, so it's always nice to have that security.

After a complete redesign last year, the Compass hits roads this year with just a few tweaks to technology interfaces, but no major changes. It's still the best midsize crossover on the roads.

Jeep Compass Features

The basic Sport trim level gives you a solid set of features right out of the gate, with Bluetooth, 5-inch Uconnect touchscreen interface for the infotainment system, six speakers and USB port. You also get 16-inch wheels and a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine delivering 180 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque paired to a six-speed manual transmission, with an optional six-speed automatic optional. If you choose all-wheel drive, you can upgrade to a nine-speed automatic.

Upgraded features run the gamut of available technology, performance and safety features, including such amenities as keyless entry and ignition, larger 8.5-inch Uconnect interface with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control, driver information display, power adjust heated seats, power liftgate, premium Beats sound system, frontal crash warning and mitigation, lane departure warning and lane keeping and more.

Off-Road Performance

The Trailhawk trim level is custom-built for off-road adventuring, so for those looking to hit the trails and handle the most rugged terrain, this is where it's at. It comes with all-wheel drive paired to a 9-speed automatic transmission, with 17 inch wheels, off-roading tires, specialized suspension and front fascia tailored to maximize angles.

It features a special Selec-Terrain system to deal with steep inclines and surfaces strewn with heavy or loose rocks. With special matte black accents and red tow hooks, it looks tough and rugged, and the underbody protection shields are ideal for sheltering the gas tank, oil pan and engine from damage. All of this together makes it capable of tackling just about anything nature throws in its way.
