Whether it's for a trailblazing outdoor adventure or just a trip around the corner, the Jeep Wrangler is a joy to drive. With best-in-class off-roading, drivers across St. Louis, Chesterfield, Kirkwood, and Missouri know that the Wrangler is the right choice for sporting and wilderness trips.

It's important to keep on top of vehicle maintenance as you enjoy this vehicle. As you drive, maintenance lights or dashboard symbols may turn on, letting you know that there is an issue that needs attention. Glendale Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram has put together this dashboard symbols guide to explain what these lights mean.

Jeep Wrangler Indicator Lights

These lights are the common ones that turn on as you're driving. Indicator lights include basic functions, like a turn signal or headlights. If you can't get an indicator light to turn off despite not using the function, reach out to our service team.

Here are a few examples of indicator lights:

High Beams. This light, shaped like the letter "D," will turn on when your high beams are activated. It has horizontal lines coming off the left side, too. Make sure to turn them off as other vehicles approach at night.

4WD Low Indicator. If your vehicle is equipped with this feature, this light will turn on when the four-wheel drive LOW mode is activated. This is used when going over rocky terrain at lower speeds.

Hill Descent Control. This symbol looks like a car going down a hill with an odometer near it. This means Hill Descent Control is on, which assists the vehicle when the 4WD LOW mode is activated and your car is going less than 30 mph.

Wrangler Warning Lights

The warning lights will come on with a message or audible noise when necessary. Check the owner's manual for further information about the light that has turned on. Generally speaking, yellow warning lights signify an issue that needs to be looked at soon, while a red light is more urgent and requires immediate attention.

Here are some of the lights and what they mean:

Air Bag Warning Light. When there's an issue with the airbag system, you'll see this light turn on. When there's an issue with the airbag itself, the light will turn on and be joined by a single chime. If the light turns on while driving, visit our service center.

Brake Warning Light. If "BRAKE" appears in all caps while driving, pull over as soon as possible and turn the car off, as it might be dangerous to keep driving. It could be that brake fluid is low, or that there's an issue with the anti-lock brake system. It will also be on when the parking brake is on, so make sure it's deactivated before driving.

Coolant Warning Light. This light is shaped like a staff with wavy lines underneath it, and signifies the engine may be overheating. When this light turns on, pull to the side of the road in a safe spot and stop. Turn the A/C off if it's on, and turn the car into neutral. If the car isn't cooling down after a minute or so, turn the engine off.
