Dodge publishes three maximum trailer ratings for 2027, all when properly equipped: 7,200 pounds for the GT HEMI with its 5.7-liter V-8, 8,700 pounds for the GT HEMI with Tow 'n Go, and 8,700 pounds for the 6.4-liter R/T 392 and the supercharged SRT Hellcat. Dodge notes that an optional towing package is required to reach those maximums.

Trailer-tow Group IV is that package for most models. It adds a Class IV receiver hitch, an integrated trailer brake controller, and Blind-spot Monitoring with Trailer Detection, and it comes standard on the GT HEMI Plus, GT HEMI Premium, R/T 392 Plus, and R/T 392 Premium. Trailer-sway control is standard on every model.

Tow 'n Go is exclusive to GT HEMI models, and it turns the 360-horsepower SUV into a tow rig with a performance edge. It brings Bilstein adaptive damping, an electronic limited-slip rear axle, Brembo brakes with six-piston front calipers, 20x10-inch wheels on 295-section Pirelli tires, widebody flares, and a Class IV hitch for towing up to 8,700 pounds when properly equipped.

Standard all-wheel drive helps put power down on a wet boat ramp, and every Durango's drive-mode menu includes a dedicated Tow setting. On the R/T 392 and SRT Hellcat, the full-time system splits torque 50/50 in Tow mode, and the R/T 392's 6.4-liter HEMI delivers 470 lb-ft of torque through an eight-speed automatic.

Behind the third row, the 2027 Durango holds 17.2 cubic feet of cargo. Fold that row and space grows to 43.3 cubic feet, and with the second row down as well the Durango opens up 85.1 cubic feet, enough for camping gear, coolers, and a week of luggage.

Dodge counts more than 50 possible seating configurations across the lineup. Seven seats are standard in GT HEMI and R/T 392 models, while the SRT Hellcat is a five-seater that can add a third row, and every model gets a power liftgate. A 24.6-gallon fuel tank helps stretch the distance between stops on a long towing day.
