2027 Jeep Cherokee Towing Capacity V
Expect a towing figure of up to 3,500 pounds from a properly equipped 2027 Jeep Cherokee. Shoppers eyeing a Laredo, Limited, Limited Altitude or Overland will find the Trailer-Tow Group on the option list. The Laredo gained that option for 2027. A vehicle built with the group shows it on the window sticker. Trailhawk buyers order through the dealer and can specify a trailering package, the piece that unlocks up to 3,500 pounds when properly equipped.
Payload, the weight of people and cargo together, is rated up to 850 pounds when properly equipped on all five non-Trailhawk trims. A full cabin plus a packed cargo floor eats into that allowance. Trailhawk payload carries a Stellantis estimate of up to 800 pounds when properly equipped. Gross vehicle weight ratings run 5,350 pounds for the Cherokee through Overland and an estimated 5,500 pounds for the Trailhawk.

2027 Jeep Cherokee Towing & Performance Features V
A Class III receiver hitch anchors the Trailer-Tow Group on the 2027 Jeep Cherokee. Trailer-Hitch Zoom, Blind Spot Monitoring with Trailer Detection, a 7-pin and 4-pin wiring harness and a compact spare tire complete the group. No option box is needed for Trailer Sway Damping or Rough-Road Cruise Control on the Cherokee through Overland. On those same trims, Hill Start Assist is standard too, helping prevent rollback on an incline while a properly equipped Cherokee has up to 3,500 pounds hitched behind it.
The 1.6-liter turbo four and its two-motor hybrid transmission produce 210 horsepower and 230 lb-ft between them. Most of the lineup uses Jeep Active Drive I, a fully automatic 4x4 system. Normal cruising uses the front wheels, and the rear axle joins automatically when needed. Selec-Terrain adds Auto, Snow, Sport and Sand/Mud modes. Snow mode sees regular use once a Missouri winter sets in. Jeep equips the Trailhawk with Active Drive II, an electronic rear locker, Rock mode and a two-speed power transfer unit.
- Class III receiver hitch paired with Trailer-Hitch Zoom
- Blind Spot Monitoring with Trailer Detection in the tow group
- Standard Trailer Sway Damping on the Cherokee through Overland
- 210 horsepower and 230 lb-ft of combined hybrid output
- Electronic rear locker and Rock mode on the Trailhawk

2027 Jeep Cherokee Cargo & Storage Volume V
With the rear seat up, the five non-Trailhawk 2027 Jeep Cherokee trims keep 33.6 cubic feet free for cargo. Those five max out at 68.3 cubic feet behind the front seats. Trailhawk cargo space comes in at 29.5 cubic feet behind row two and 62.2 cubic feet behind row one. Two rows seat five on every version, Trailhawk included.
The liftgate changes as the trims climb: the Limited and Limited Altitude get power operation with an adjustable height, and a Tech Group upgrade brings them hands-free opening, which the Trailhawk and Overland have as standard. On the Cherokee through Overland, the second row splits 60/40 for mixed loads of riders and gear. Black roof rails, a 12-volt cargo-area outlet, overhead LED cargo lighting and tie-down loops come standard on them as well, and that lighting helps during a predawn load-up.
- Seats-up cargo of 33.6 cu ft, Cherokee through Overland
- Seats-down cargo of 68.3 cu ft, Cherokee through Overland
- Trailhawk holds 29.5 cu ft, or 62.2 cu ft folded
- Five-passenger seating across the lineup
- Height-adjustable power liftgate on Limited and Limited Altitude
