Started in 1986, Andy's Frozen Custard opened its doors in Osage Beach, Missouri, and quickly received community praise. With a company that's as fanatical about custard as Andy's, it's hard to avoid making a visit. They offer customers a piece of small-town Americana, where they ensure everyone gets to feel like a kid. Of course, customer service is their highest priority and owners Carol and John make that reality possible by hiring down-to-earth people and treating them well.

The menu at Andy's is expansive, offering everything from cones and milkshakes to sundaes, concretes, and malts. Taste the Triple Chocolate Concrete if you're in the mood for more chocolate than you can handle. This creation blends chocolate frozen custard, chocolate chip cookie dough, and melted chocolate chips.

froYo

This lovely self-serve frozen yogurt joint embodies what it means to enjoy healthier sweets without missing out on that beloved sugar rush. Our favorite part are the endless combinations you can make with all the mix-and-match dispensers. That means that you can swirl some strawberry, then add a bit of cheesecake, and maybe even something to make a wild creation-like cotton candy. Who knows? You could spend all day trying different flavors and toppings. At least, we could.

Ices Plain & Fancy is a little different than the other shops in our list. Instead of traditional ice cream or frozen custard, the team at this ice cream parlor flash churn their ice cream at -321 degrees Fahrenheit. It's claimed that the texture you get when you rapidly freeze your ice cream ingredients is full of tiny ice crystals that can't be replicated by slow-churning methods. Oh, and it's also a lot of fun to watch Ices Plain & Fancy create their nitro ice creams.

Not only does the parlor serve made-to-order nitro ice cream, but they also offer boozy ice cream cocktails, sorbets, and floats.
